Russia's Anna Pavlova finished fourth in the all-around at the Athens Olympic Games. Seventh in Beijing, she's still awaiting word as to whether she can participate in the vault final on Sunday, though she took the Bronze in Athens.
You gave a nearly flawless performance today.
Are you satisfied?
'Yes, I'm pleased with how I performed today, but I had changed my start value in the team final and couldn't bring up my score. The team final was more important to us. It doesn't make much difference whether you finish 7th or 20th in the all-around, but the difference between 4th and 3rd in a team final is huge.'
It must be hard to accept fourth place in teams:
'We were sorely disappointed. We had worked hard to earn the Bronze medal, but we weren't prepared psychologically. That was our big problem Wednesday.'
You've got three finals left: floor, beam and vault:
'Yes, but I'm not sure my coach is going to let me compete in the vault final. My injury is still giving me pain and that's definitely a problem. It may be better to sit it out so that I'll be in shape for the other finals.'
Having participated in the Athens Olympic Games under the old code of points, how do you feel about the new one?
'I'm uncomfortable with the new code. I hope the next one is better and puts more emphasis on the artistic aspect of the sport rather than favouring a high number of elements. I'd like to be able to be more expressive in my floor exercises, for example.'
